Volleyball: Season Concludes After a Tough Round One Matchup
The CCC volleyball team matched up with Iowa Central Community College, Saturday, in the Region 11 Round 1 matchup. A recap of the match is below:
The Raiders fought very hard in this one against a very good Tritons team. The first set was all Iowa Central, 25-14. The second was closer but saw the same result with the Tritons winning set two 25-18. In the third, the Raiders played a fantastic set, but the steady pressure of Iowa Central's offensive and defensive strength, won them set three 27-25 and the 3-0 sweep win. This moves the Iowa Central Tritons on and ends the Raiders season at 16-16. Mallory Dressen led the team in kills with 8 and Meah Sackett contributed 22 assists. Maleigha Johnson led the team in digs with 18.
When asked about the game and the season as a whole, head coach Mary Young said, "It wasn't the outcome we wanted, but I'm extremely proud of how we represented Central Community College in our first season competing in the ICCAC. This team showed tremendous growth, resilience, and commitment throughout the year. Our players grew together, fought together, and represented Central with pride. The lessons learned and bonds built this season will last far beyond the court and have set a strong foundation for the future of the program."
