The CCC volleyball team competed in the Iowa Central VB Tournament over this past Friday-Saturday stretch. Friday afternoon they played 2 matches against Rochester Community and Technical College and Seminole State College. On Saturday the Raiders faced off against Neosho County Community College and Mesa Community College. These matches were played in Fort Dodge, IA. A recap of each match is below:
Match 1 vs. Rochester Community and Technical College
Set one was a back-and-forth battle for the entirety of the set. CCC was able to edge out Rochester in extras with a 26-24 win. Set two was also super tight down the stretch, with CCC again winning in extra points, 31-29. In set three, Rochester avoided the sweep with a 25-18 victory. Set four was all Raiders, as CCC controlled their way to a 25-15 win, clinching the match 3-1. Marin Reilly led the way with 13 kills. Maleigha Johnson led the team in digs with 25. Meah Sackett contributed 43 assists to the winning effort as well.
Match 2 vs. Seminole State College
Central controlled this match from start to finish, winning all three sets with scores of 25-14, 25-21, and 25-15. This resulted in a 3-0 match sweep for CCC, bringing their Friday record to 2-0.. Chloe Henn led the way with 11 kills, Sackett tallied 36 assists and Johnson led with 11 digs.
Match 3 vs. Neosho County Community College
In their first match on Saturday, the Raiders faced a very strong Neosho CC team. The Panthers' defense and powerful attacks proved to be too much for the Raiders, resulting in a 3-0 sweep for Neosho with set scores of 17-25, 16-25, and 19-25. Dreesen led with 6 kills. Sackett also led the team in assists with 20. Reilly contributed 9 digs.
Match 4 vs. Mesa Community College
The Raiders matched up with a good Mesa CC team for their last match of the tournament. Mesa won the first set 25-23, and Central responded by winning the second set 25-22. However, Mesa went on to win the next two sets, 25-21 and 25-18, to secure the match. The Raiders finish the Iowa Central Tournament 2-2. Dressen and Kerry Ryan led the way with 9 kills, Sackett tallied 35 assists and Johnson led with 26 digs.
The CCC Volleyball team moves to 7-5 and are in action next Tuesday night vs Iowa Lakes.
