Men's Basketball: Raiders Hand Highland Their Only Second Loss of the Year
The Central Community College (CCC) men's basketball team faced off against Highland Community College-Kansas this past Friday, October 21st, at home.
After a very back-and-forth first half, the Raiders led for the majority, stretching their advantage to ten points at one stage. However, a late push by Highland trimmed the lead, resulting in a slim 38-34 advantage for the Raiders heading into halftime. In the second half, Highland quickly erased Central's lead and held the advantage for the majority of the period. Down the stretch, the Raiders staged a furious rally and successfully reclaimed the lead within the final five minutes of the game. Clutch free throws from Brody Johnson and Merkv Torrance ultimately secured the win for CCC. A strong overall team performance, highlighted by a higher field goal percentage (42.2% vs. Highland's 36.9%) and effective rebounding, helped Central seal the 76-71 final score.
The Central Community College men's basketball team now moves to 5-4 and will be in action next against Iowa Lakes at home on Tuesday night, November 25th.
