The CCC volleyball team competed in the Johnson County CC Tournament over this past Friday-Saturday stretch. Friday afternoon they played 1 match against Johnson County CC. On Saturday, the Raiders faced off against Lincoln Land Community College and Fort Scott Community College. These matches were played in Overland Park, KS. A recap of each match is below:
Match 1 vs. Johnson County CC
The Raider's first match of the tournament was against the top 10 nationally ranked, home team, Johnson County. The Raiders started strong, playing a very tough first set but ultimately losing 25-18. In a display of determination, CCC fought strong and won the second 25-21. Despite this surge, Johnson County secured the victory by winning the next two sets, 25-20 and 25-19. Mallory Dressen led the way with 12 kills. Maleigha Johnson and Marin Reilly led the team in digs with 13 apiece. Meah Sackett contributed 32 assists as well.
Match 2 vs. Lincoln Land Community College
Central controlled this match from start to finish, winning all three sets with scores of 25-16, 25-9, and 25-20. This resulted in a 3-0 match sweep for CCC, starting their Saturday off on the right foot. Kerry Ryan led the way with 9 kills and Sackett tallied 24 assists.
Match 3 vs. Fort Scott Community College
Central controlled this match as well from start to finish, winning all three sets with scores of 25-12, 25-15, and 25-14. The Stifling defense of the Raiders didn't allow Fort Scott to exceed 15 points in any of the three sets. This resulted in a 3-0 match sweep for CCC, making their tournament record 2-1. Dressen led the way with 6 kills and Sackett tallied 23 assists.
CCC Volleyball moves to 10-8 and is in action next vs DMACC in Columbus on September 24th.
