The CCC volleyball team had their season opener on Friday afternoon then 2 more games following on Saturday to start off their 25-26' campaign. These matches were played in North Platte, NE. A recap of each match is below:
Match 1 vs. Southeast Community College
The Raiders were able to start their season off hot with a sweep of Southeast CC. Central Set the tone with a 25-13 set one. The SCC Bobcats were able to keep it tight for match two with the final score of 25-23. The third and final set saw the Raiders put the pedal back down and stifled the scoring of Southeast on route to a 25-18 set three win, concluding the 3-0 sweep for Central. Marin Reilly and Chloe Henn had 7 kills a piece with Mallory Dreesen leading the way with 8. Reilly also led the team in digs with 9. Meah Sackett contributed 27 assists to the winning effort as well. Maleigha Johnson had 5 aces.
Match 2 vs. Casper College
Central was bested in this one by Casper College in three sets. Set one was a battle with it going into extras but seeing Casper pull away late giving them that important set one win 27-25. Set two and three were not as close, with Casper getting the decisive victory in both 16-25 and 15-25. Henn led the way with 7 kills, Sackett tallied 20 assists and Reilly led with 11 digs.
Match 3 vs. North Platte Community College
The first five set match for the Raiders came in the last game of the tournament as Central claimed a 3-2 win to close. Set one and two were close with Central winning set one 25-19 and NPCC winning set two 25-22. Set three was a Central blowout 25-10, but North Platte responded nicely in match 4, winning it 25-19, forcing the fifth set. In the final set the Raiders got a lead and did not look back, winning it 15-9 giving them a victory. Ashtyn Heikes had a 6-point serving run to pace the Raiders in the fifth set. Reilly and Dreesen had 9 kills a piece with Henn leading the way with 12. Sackett also led the team in assists with 38. Maleigha Johnson contributed 18 digs to the winning effort as well.
The CCC volleyball team moves to 2-1 on the season and is back in action on Wednesday at home vs Kirkwood CC.
