The CCC men's soccer team faced off against Jefferson Community College on September 5th and Neosho Community College on September 9th. Recaps of the matches are below:
Match 1 vs Jefferson Community College
In a defensively sound soccer match, only one goal was scored. Jefferson capitalized on a late opportunity in the first half, scoring just before the period ended to take a 1-0 lead.
Despite being outshot 11-5, the Raiders' defense held strong. However, in the second half, CCC's offense struggled to generate good scoring chances, and they were unable to overcome the one-goal deficit. This marked the men's soccer team's first loss of the season.
Match 2 vs Neosho Community College
The match against Neosho was pretty evenly matched, with both teams getting some solid shots on goal and playing tough defense. Neosho managed to sneak in an early goal just five minutes into the game. But the Raiders didn't give up. They settled in and, just before the first half ended, Harvey Brook scored the equalizer (assisted by Leo Morley-Robertson.) The second half was a real defensive showdown, with neither team giving an inch. Unfortunately, a late penalty gave Neosho a chance, and they capitalized, scoring the winning goal to hand the Raiders a tough 2-1 loss.
CCC men's soccer moves to 3-2-1 and is in action next on Sept. 13th at Kansas City Kansas Community College at 7pm.
