Golf: Fall Season Comes to a Close in Hastings
The Central Community College golf team took part in the Nebraska Intercollegiate at Lochland Country Club in Hastings on Friday and Saturday. The tournament conditions were phenomenal and Lochland CC was in great shape to host the fall season finale.
Day one saw the Raiders struggle as Spencer Knispel shot a 77, Jude Elgert, Colby Sorensen, and Creek Kennedy each carded 83. Jack Edwards followed up the rear with an 87.
Going into day two, Kennedy withdrew due to a back issue and Jake Wright took his place. The conditions were much harder with the wind blowing upwards of 25-30 MPH. Elgert improved his game by six shots from the first day and finished with a 77 thanks in part to an eagle on his second to last hole. Knispel shot an 82 while Sorensen and Ewards each shot 84. Wright shot an 89.
"This was a very busy week for my golfers," CCC head coach Sam Elgert said. "I thought we showed great drive to compete with the stacked field, even though we were outgunned. We have a lot of improvements to do going forward and we will address those this winter. I am excited for the future."
