Men's Basketball: Raiders Fall just Short in OT vs the Reivers
The Central Community College men's basketball team hosted the #14 ranked Iowa Western CC at home, on Wednesday, January 21st. A recap of the match is below:
In a heart-pounding battle in Columbus, Central Community College came up just short in a 78–71 overtime loss to Iowa Western Community College. The Raiders controlled the tempo early, heading into the locker room with a promising 38–30 halftime lead, but the Reivers managed to chip away in the second half to force the extra period. Brody Johnson anchored the interior for CCC, finishing with a team-high 14 points and 7 rebounds, while Tee Liban provided a massive spark off the bench, playing 34 minutes and narrowly missing a double-double with 8 points and 9 boards. Despite out-rebounding Iowa Western 37–32 and showing great ball movement with 19 team assists, the Raiders' shooting went cold in the final stretch, particularly from the perimeter. Though the overtime period favored the Reivers, the Raiders' defensive intensity remained high, forcing 18 turnovers and recording 8 steals in a gritty conference performance.
Raiders move to 9-12 and are in action next at Western Iowa Tech January 24th.
