Men's Basketball: Raiders Fall to Undefeated JCCC in Tough Road Battle
The Central Community College men's basketball team headed to Overland Park, KS to face off against the undefeated Johnson County CC. A recap of the game is below:
The first 20 minutes was a back-and-forth affair that saw CCC lead by as much as 6 on multiple occasions. The Raiders jumped in front by a score of 21-20 after Mo Abdalla hit a 3FG fresh out of the 8:00 mark media timeout. From there, JCCC would go on a 16-9 run to end the half and take a 36-30 lead into the break.
The Cavaliers came out of the second half making 2 3FGs their first two possessions which pushed their lead to 12 points and triggered a quick timeout by the Raiders. The Raiders were able to respond after the timeout thanks in large part to Nino Nesbitt who recorded 9 quick points, by way of a 3FG and two unconventional 3-point plays (and 1s). This cut the JCCC lead back down to 3. The lead would then blossom again to 16 for the Cavaliers, before the Raiders would make one more push to cut the lead back down to 10, forcing a Cavalier timeout with 10 minutes to play. The Cavaliers would go on a 13-3 run and never look back as the Raiders ran out of gas and could not get anything to fall offensively.
Men's basketball moves to 4-4 and look to bounce back this Friday, November 21st in Raider Fieldhouse as they take on another tough opponent in Highland CC (KS) who is also currently undefeated.
