Men’s Basketball: Raiders Rule Storm
The Central Community College men's basketball team won at Southeast Community College, 91-58, on Saturday in Beatrice.
The Raiders outscored the Storm in the first half, 42-27. CCC continued the domination in the second half and cruised to the 33-point victory. Central's defense held Southeast's offense to 29-percent shooting from the floor and 19-percent shooting from three-point range. The Raiders also outrebounded the Storm, 47-35.
"I was really pleased with our team defense," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "Without question, this is the best we have guarded for a full game."
Dwight Glover Jr. (pictured) came off the bench to lead all scorers with 28 points. CCC's bench bested SCC reserves, 33-14. Kevin Cook logged a double-double with 22 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb Muia scored 15 points while Jayden Byabato finished with 13 points.
"Dwight was outstanding," said Ritzdorf. "He shot really well and was very efficient. Caleb and Kevin were great on the glass and Derek (Merwick) and Jayden were good against pressure and handled the ball well."
With the win, the Raiders are 16-8 on the season heading into the regular season finale on Tuesday night. CCC will host Iowa Western Community College at 7:30 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
