Men’s Basketball: Reivers Outlast Raiders
The Central Community College men's basketball team lost at Iowa Western Community College, 78-70, on Tuesday night.
The Reivers set the tone early with a 13-2 run before the Raiders pulled to within five points twice and trailed 44-31 at the half. The Reivers opened the second half with an 10-2 run to build their biggest lead, 54-33. The Raiders went to work and outscored Iowa Western, 34-18, to pull to within five points at 72-67. However, the Reivers were able to run out the clock to secure the eight-point victory.
"We battled back to make it a game, but it took us too long to settle in and compete," said CCC head coach John Ritzdorf. "You can't let a good team like Iowa Western go on runs like that to start each half."
Tredyn Prososki led CCC in scoring with 22 points while Caleb Muia chipped in 10 points.
The loss snaps the Raiders' four-game winning streak to start the season and gives them a 4-1 record.
Up next, CCC will take part in the Iowa Central Classic in Fort Dodge, Iowa, on Friday and Saturday. The Raiders will meet Ellsworth Community College at 5 p.m. on Friday. On Saturday at 3 p.m., CCC will battle host Iowa Central Community College at 3 p.m.
