VB-AVCA Recognizes Academic Achievement
The Central Community College volleyball team has been recognized by the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) for its consistent commitment to academics.
The Raiders are among the more than 1,400 collegiate and high school volleyball programs to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award. The award is sponsored by INTENT, a tech, information and internet company, and is presented to volleyball teams that maintain a year-long grade-point-average of 3.3 on 4.0 scale. CCC has earned the distinction for 14 years in a row, the longest current streak among two-year collegiate programs.
"We are thrilled to earn the AVCA Team Academic Award for the 20th time," said CCC volleyball coach Mary Young. "This recognition underscores the long-standing tradition and culture of winning and academic excellence within the CCC volleyball program. I'm incredibly proud of our success, both on the court and in the classroom, which demonstrates the remarkable dedication and hard work that define our program."
The Raiders will open the 2024 season on Saturday, Aug. 24, by hosting a tri-match with Southwestern (Iowa) Community College and Western Iowa Tech Community College. CCC will take on Southwestern at noon, followed by Western Iowa Tech at 2 p.m.
