Volleyball: NJCAA Recognizes Odbert

Central Community College sophomore Chloe Odbert has been named as the National Junior Collegiate Athletic Association Division II Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week.

During the week of Oct. 4 – 10, Odbert averaged five digs per set and served nine aces. The Raiders went 3-1 during that stretch.

"Chloe has been the anchor to our defense the entire year and does so many things for our team that do not show up in the stat sheet," said CCC head coach Mary Young. "Her work ethic and leadership are key ingredients to our team and this award is well deserved."

The Raiders are 12-15 on the season and will take part in this weekend's Triton Volleyball Invitational, hosted by Iowa Central Community College. On Friday, CCC will take on Des Moines Area Community College at 4:30 p.m., and then North Iowa Area Community College at 6:15 p.m. On Saturday, the Raiders will battle Carl Sandburg (Ill.) College at 9:30 a.m., before meeting the host Iowa Central Community College at 1 p.m.
