The Central Community College women's soccer team split both games at the Hawkeye RedTail Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. The event was hosted by Hawkeye Community College in Waterloo, Iowa. A recap of both games is below. The Raiders are 1-5 on the season and will return to action on Friday with a home game against the College of St. Mary JV. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. at Raider Field.
Game 1 vs. Dakota County (Minn.) Technical College
The Raiders posted their first win of the season with a 3-0 win over the Blue Knights.
All three goals were scored by Rylee Eshliman with Naomi Espinoza assisting on the first and Bella Beltran on the second. In between, Eshliman scored an unassisted goal. The goals were scored in the 5th, 25th and 55th minutes.
Game 2 vs. Hawkeye Community College
The host RedTails defeated the Raiders, 4-1, in Sunday's final round.
CCC's Hali Eddy score the lone CCC goal in the first half with Rylee Eschliman on the assist.
"We played really well this weekend," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "It was nice to get the first win on Saturday. We played well against Hawkeye CC, but because we don't have a deep bench, we ran out of gas in the second half. However, the effort the girls put in was solid."
