The Central Community College women's soccer team lost to Southeast Community College, 2-1, on Monday in Beatrice.
The game was scoreless until the 65th minute when CCC's Laura Jovanovic found the back of the net off the assist of Elizabeth Hamilton to put the Raiders up, 1-0. The Storm evened the score at 1-1 with a goal seven minutes later. The contest appeared to be headed for overtime, but SCC scored the game-winning goal with 20 seconds left in regulation to go up by the final count of 2-1.
CCC goalie Rachel Willette finished with four saves.
"I felt like we did a really good job for the first 60-65 minutes of the game," said CCC head coach Jamie Bennett. "Up to that point, they only had one shot on goal and things were looking good. Then we made one mistake and we let that get in our head and made the exact same mistake with 20 seconds left and lost. The girls played physically really hard, but the mental game got the best of us."
The loss gives CCC a mark of 1-6-1.
The Raiders will close out the regular season on Wednesday with a home game against Hesston College. Kickoff is set for 4:30 p.m. at Raider Field.
