Women’s Basketball: CCC Falls in Region 9 Title Game
The Central Community College lost at North Platte Community College, 82-45, in the Region 9 championship game on Saturday.
The Knights defense held the Raiders to 13 first half points as they led 43-13 at halftime. NPCC's domination continued in the second half en route to the 37-point victory.
Amy Mitchell led CCC in scoring with 14 points while Madisen Jelinek finished with 11 points.
With the loss, the Raiders closed out the 2021-22 season with a mark of 11-12.
"I am very proud of the girls this year because they stayed together as a team," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "With all of the cancellations due to COVID, this team stayed together and grew together until the end. The final result was not what they wanted, but they should be proud of themselves in that they never game up. I am very blessed to have coached this group."
After the game, Mitchell and Brittney Veik were named to the All-Region 9 team. Veik was CCC's leading scorer with 14.6 points per game while Mitchell was the second leading scorer with 13.6 points per game.
