Women’s Basketball: Raiders Pummel Panthers
First game since mid-January.
The Central Community College women's basketball team defeated the York College JV, 74-36, on Tuesday night at the Raider Fieldhouse. The game marked the first time CCC played since Jan. 17.
The Raiders set the defensive tone early as they held the Panthers scoreless for the first five minutes of the game en route to a 15-3 lead at the end of the first quarter. Central continued the dominance in the second quarter and took a 32-16 advantage at halftime.
Picking up right where they left off, the Raiders rattled of a 14-3 run to open the third quarter to build a 46-19 margin. CCC closed out the third period with a 52-26 lead. Central posted its biggest lead of 40 points with just under two minutes in the fourth quarter before taking the game, 74-36.
"It was nice to get back in the swing of playing games again," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "I was very proud the girls for playing good team ball on both ends of the floor."
Nyamiri Blair led all scorers with 17 points while Macey Thege posted a double-double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. Amy Mitchell finished with 10 points.
With the win, CCC goes to 8-9 on the season.
