Women’s Basketball: CCC Posts First Win
The Central Community College women's basketball team recorded its first win of the season with an 82-70 victory over Midland University JV
The first quarter was close as the visiting Warriors led 16-15 at the end of the period. The second quarter remained tight until the Raiders were able to pull ahead by seven, 36-29, on Brittany Veik's three-pointer with two and a half minutes to play. CCC led at halftime, 38-35.
The third quarter was close until the 4:40 mark when the Raiders held a two-point lead, 51-49. That's when CCC rattled off a 14-4 run to take a 10-point lead at the end the period, 63-53. In the fourth quarter, CCC built its largest lead, 74-58, with five minutes to play and went on to the victory.
"This was a great team win," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We shared the ball well and played solid defense."
CCC's Bailey Lehr logged a double-double with 20 points and 15 rebounds. Nyamiri Blair tallied 18 points, while Veik finished with 16 points. Macey Thege added 11 points and Allanah Beller scored 10 points.
The 1-3 Raiders will return to action on Wednesday afternoon with a contest against Northeastern Junior College. Tipoff is set for 3 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
