The Central Community College softball team faced off with Northeast CC for a doubleheader in Columbus yesterday, April 8th. A recap of the doubleheader is below:
Game 1: Northeast- 6 Central- 3
Danica Taylor anchored the Raiders' offense, going 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, while Kayla Fox also contributed a multi-hit performance and drove in a run. On the mound, Callen Heule pitched a complete seven-inning game and recorded five strikeouts, though she was ultimately tagged with the loss. Despite a late three-run surge in the bottom of the seventh, the Raiders were unable to fully bridge the gap before the final out.
Game 2: Northeast- 2 Central- 6
Central delivered a dominant performance to secure a 6–2 victory over Northeast, leading from the very first inning. The Raiders' offense was powered by Kloey Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with two doubles and an RBI, and Kami Kaskie, who drove in two runs on a 2-for-3 day at the plate. Logan Rainforth was exceptional on the mound, earning the win with a complete seven-inning performance where she allowed no earned runs and struck out three batters. The team's consistent hitting and solid defensive effort ensured they stayed ahead throughout the contest to wrap up the win.
Raiders move to 13-18 and are in action over the weekend vs Hawkeye and Kirkwood CC.
