The Central Community College softball team swept a double-header with the Concordia University JV on Monday at Raider Field. A recap of both games is below. The Raiders are 14-16 on the season and will take on Southeast Community College in a double-header on Friday in Beatrice. Game times are 2 and 4 p.m.
Game 1: Central Community College 13 Concordia University JV 3 (five innings)
The Raiders opened in grand fashion with nine runs in the first inning and went on the rout the Bulldogs, 13-3 in five innings. Emma Lees tallied a homerun, a double and five RBI. Katie Paczosa logged a triple and batted in a pair of runs. Kailee Pollard pitched all five innings and made three strikeouts en route to her 10th win of the season.
Game 2: Central Community College 7 Concordia JV 6
The Raiders got just when they needed, when they needed it, by scoring six runs in the bottom of the sixth inning for a 7-6 win. Lees scored the first CCC run off a Concordia error for a 1-0 lead which held until the top of the fourth, when the Bulldogs scored for a 1-1 tie. In the top of the sixth, the Bulldogs scored five runs to take a 6-1 advantage before the Raiders pulled out the late-game heroics for the victory. Pollard posted the save to get the win.
"I am super proud of the fight we had," said CCC head coach Caitlin Simon. "However, we know we need to keep working on bringing a more consistent energy to practice and games."
