The Central Community College softball team lost both games of a double-header against McCook Community College at Raider Field on Tuesday. A recap of both games is below. The Raiders are 11-15 on the season and will take on the Hastings JV in a double header on Wednesday in Hastings. Game times are 4 and 6 p.m.
Game 1: McCook Community College 6 Central Community College 4
The Indians broke a 2-2 tie with three runs in the top of the sixth inning and went on to a 6-4 win. CCC scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the seventh but could get no closer. Kailee Pollard took the loss.
Game 2: McCook Community College 13 Central Community College 8 (eight innings)
The Raiders and Indians were tied, 7-7 following the seventh inning. McCook then pounded six runs in the top of the eighth inning and posted a 13-8 victory. Pollard was the losing pitcher.
Despite the shutout, CCC head coach Caitlin Simon said, "Defensively we are playing pretty solid. As a pitching staff we need to eliminate big innings and offensively capitalize when we have baserunner on."
