The CCC men's soccer team headed to West Burlington, IA to play Southeastern CC on October 30th for the semifinal round of the Region 11 Championship. A recap of the match is below:
On an overcast Wednesday afternoon, the Region 11 semifinals kicked off between the Raiders and the Blackhawks. This was a defensive battle from start to finish, with both teams' defensive prowess eclipsing their otherwise potent offenses. After a hard-fought 90 minutes, the match remained locked at 0-0 in regulation, forcing a playoff shootout. Ultimately, the Raiders were bested 4-3 in the shootout, giving the Blackhawks the semifinal victory.
Head Coach Luis Puildo says, "We proved what kind of team we are by closing the season with 10 wins in 13 matches, with our only losses coming against the top five programs in the entire nation. More importantly, we got noticeably better every single week, playing our best soccer when it mattered most, just ran into a better team."
The CCC men's soccer team ends the season with a 12-6-2 record.
