The CCC men's soccer team headed to Council Bluffs to take on the #1 ranked D1 Iowa Western on Thursday, September 4th. A recap of the match is below:
CCC knew they would have their hands full going to the #1 ranked D1 Iowa Western. The Reivers got the scoring started with a goal late in the first period, making it 1-0 at the end of the first. Iowa Western had 13 shot-on-goals vs CCC's two in the first period. The second was a different story, with a goal from Kristof Nemeth (assisted by Luca Reicher) to tie it up at the 53rd minute for Central. The Reivers took the lead back pretty quickly in the 65th minute, 2-1. CCC was playing very close with them at this point in the match. About 20 minutes pass with no more goals, and it's looking like a 2-1 win for Iowa Western. With 9 minutes left in the match, a fantastic goal from Leo Morley-Robertson (assisted by Juan Lopez) ties the game up. This forced the split, final score being 2-2.
CCC men's soccer moves to 3-0-1 and is in action next on Sept. 5th at Jefferson College at 7pm.
