Men's Basketball: Raiders Secure Gritty Road Win in Season Closer
The Central Community College men's basketball team headed to Iowa Lakes CC on Wednesday, February 25th. A recap of the match is below:
Central Community College closed out the 2025-26 season on a high note, putting together a complete team performance to defeat Iowa Lakes 80–72. Mo Abdalla anchored the backcourt with a team-high 19 points and three steals, while Brody Johnson dominated the interior, shooting 8-of-10 from the floor to finish with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Sophomore Merkv Torrance weaponized his defense into offense, tallying a remarkable 7 steals to go along with 10 points and 5 assists. Despite the Lakers' advantage at the free-throw line, the Raiders' defensive pressure—resulting in 15 total steals—and a high-scoring 50-point second half ensured a hard-earned road victory.
Head coach Tyler Francis had this to say about the game and the season as a whole, "Though the year came to a close sooner than we had our sights set, there was valuable experience earned for our very young group throughout the year. I was proud that the young men who competed Wednesday night found a way in very unique circumstances, on the road no less, to close the season with a W. The core group that has the opportunity to return as Raiders next year, have layed a foundation that we will look to build on as we prepare for the 2026-2027 season. The work starts now."
Men's basketball finishes the season at 11-19.
