Men’s Basketball: Players/Coach Earn Post-Season Honors
Four Central Community College men's basketball players and the head coach have earned post-season honors.
Sophomores Kevin Cook and Dwight Glover Jr. were named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference All-Conference Team while Caleb Muia was named Honorable Mention.
Additionally, Cook, Glover, Muia and Tredyn Prososki were named to the All-Region 9 team. CCC head coach John Ritzdorf was named Region 9 Coach of the Year, marking the second time he has earned the honor.
"Any award or recognition I receive is a direct result of the success of our team," Ritzdorf said. "I don't receive anything if the players don't make plays on the court to win. This really is a team award."
Cook play in all 27 CCC games and started in 26. He led the Raiders in scoring and rebounding with 14 points and 10.5 rebounds per game. Cook recorded a team-best 13 double-doubles in 2021-22.
"Kevin was a huge part of our success this year," said Ritzdorf. "He provided a much-needed physical presence in the post, and often, was the best post player on the floor night in and night out. We would not have had the success we had this year without Kevin. He plays harder than anyone I've coached, and he deserves any recognition he receives."
Glover started in 19 of 27 CCC games and averaged 11.9 points, 4.8 rebounds and 1.7 assists per game and tallied 30 steals.
"Dwight was a great teammate this year and made a successful adjustment when he went from starting to an off-the-bench role mid-season," said Ritzdorf. "He had one of his best games of his career on the road at Southeast Community College late in the season when he scored 28 points. He was an explosive athlete that typically was guarded by the opponent's best player, and he made big plays throughout the year in spite of it."
Muia started all 27 games for the Raiders and averaged 9.9 point and 8.9 rebounds per game.
"Caleb had a very productive year and was one of our best rebounders, Ritzdorf said. "He consistently went up against bigger and stronger players and was still able to find ways to score, rebound, and defend at a high level. Caleb's versatility and basketball IQ were a big reason we had the success we did. He was able to change positions and roles for us when Trey Deveaux went down with a knee injury, and he did it at a high level and without complaint."
Prososki played in all 27 CCC games and started in 17. He 10.9 points, 1.5 rebounds and 1.5 assists per game. Prososki was the team's leader in three-point percentage with 36.6 (48-131).
"Tredyn was not only our best three-point shooter this year, but he also expanded his game and was more of a threat, driving to the basket and making pull up jump shots," said Ritzdorf. "He led our team in charges taken and his experience and shot making carried us through multiple games this year."
The Raiders finished the 2021-22 season with a mark of 17-10 and won the Region 9 championship.
