Women’s Basketball: Post-Season Honors
Lehr and Veik Recognized.
Two Central Community College women's basketball players have earned post-season honors.
Sophomore Bailey Lehr (left) was named to the Nebraska Community College Athletic Conference (NCCAC) All-Conference Team. Freshman Brittney Veik (right) earned NCCAC Honorable Mention honors. Additionally, Veik was named to the All-Region IX Team.
Lehr played in 17 of CCC's 20 games, starting in 16. She was the team's leader in field goal percentage at 48 percent (65-135) and free throw shooting at 85 percent (39-46). Defensively, Lehr was tops for the Raiders in rebounding with 7.3 per contest and sported a team-best 13 blocks on the season.
"Bailey is a gifted basketball player because her willingness to sacrifice everything for our team," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "She is one the most efficient players I have ever coached and is willing to work on her craft to get better. I am very proud of her for receiving NCCAC honors because her hard work didn't go unnoticed."
Lehr will graduate from CCC with an associate degree in agricultural business and transfer to Kansas State University.
Veik played in 19 games and started in 18. She led the Raiders in scoring, assists and steals with 13.4 points, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals per game, respectively.
"I am very proud of Brittney because she is one of those players that coaches are looking for," said Perkins. "She is the ultimate competitor and hard worker. Best of all, she is just a great kid. I am so honored to have had Brittney on our team because she makes those around her better."
The Raiders finished the 2021 season with a mark of 3-17.
