The Raiders were limited to a single field goal over the final five minutes in a 70-59 home loss to North Platte Community College on Friday night.
The visiting Knights were up 58-52 and tacked on four straight free throws for a 10-point lead, 62-52, with 3:55 remaining in the fourth quarter. CCC's Brittney Veik hit the lone field goal seven seconds later. The Knights took advantage and extended the lead to 14 points with 91 seconds remaining. From that point on, both teams scored only free throws. Central's Nyamiri Blair scored three free throws, while Macey Thege scored two free throws.
"I thought the team did a good job of fighting until the end," said CCC head coach Billy Perkins. "We just didn't do a good job of handling their pressure."
Allanah Beller led the Raiders in scoring with 21 points, while Bailey Keller scored 10 points.
With the loss, the Raiders are 3-11 on the season, having lost seven straight.
Up next, CCC will host McCook Community College on Saturday afternoon. The Indians defeated the Raiders, 80-39, on Jan. 30. Tipoff is set for 4 p.m. at the Raider Fieldhouse.
